A funny and heartwarming family saga. This was a really relaxing read because problems resolved almost as soon as they appeared but that caused the story to lack a little bit of depth
i really really wish there was a plot because the characters were so well done
I loved this book so much. I actually think I'm going to buy a physical copy and read it again and highlight all my favourite bits and tell everyone I know about it. This book feels quite niche, there's a lot of references to places and things that I feel only people who have been to both Wellington and Auckland and are aged 18-30 would know? But maybe that's just me. Either way, I feel like I'm the target demographic and I'm here for it. I also appreciated the 'Characters' list at the beginning of the novel. It helped when things got a little confusing.

Oh I did in fact absolutely love this.
God I LOVED this. It’s got the quippy and quick-ness like an Amy Sherman-Palladino show means the anxious inner workings of millennials a la Sally Rooney meets ‼️⁉️idk how to connect the rest. I related so much to the anxiety and the OCD and the complex sibling relationships. The multigenerational storylines involving queerness and racial identities were very well done. Unlike anything I’ve ever read.
I don’t know if this is everyone’s vibe, but it is 1000% mine. I laughed so much. I loved loved loved every chapter. Please god let her write more and more.

This is my new comfort read. An actual comfort read, not a rip my heart out comfort read but a perfect, heartwarming, hilarious comfort read. I love every character in this book and want to be part of this family immediately.
Also how could I not mention the OCD representation in this book?! It’s so good to see characters with OCD without it being the whole plot/character point which I have never seen a book be able to do so perfectly before.
5 ⭐️ will 100% read again

Big gay family drama - what more could you want? Funny and smart, at times confusing, but because this book is for “hot autistic people” (as per acknowledgments) I have to forgive.

So continues my love/hate relationship with lit/contemp fic. Hate in that it usually takes
me a bit to actually get into the book and shake off the feeling of boredom (yes I admit not every story has to have murder or magic or both but it does make things a lot more fun). I am glad this book was both gay and somewhat funny from the start so that I had a reason to keep reading. Eventually, following along with the quarter-life crises and romantic exploits of G & V began to get very engrossing, to the point where I found myself thinking about when I could read more. I would’ve read even more, although it did end at the perfect moment.
