I love a good dark and twisty book. This had some slightly predictable twists but it was a fun page turner which I devoured on my day off.

Amber is part psychopath part con artist. Her envy of all with money is on high and she sets out to steal Daphne’s husband and step into her life.

Daphne is a softhearted woman suffering from losing her sister to cystic fibrosis. She seemingly has the perfect life albeit with one spoiled daughter and another a timid bookworm. But not is all as it seems. Daphne’s husband is a legit psychopath and she cannot leave him. When Daphne discovers ambers plan she takes this as her ticket out, pushing amber into her husband’s arms.

Some of the scenes will stick with me. Namely every time Jackson used her gun on the women. The “you’re mine bit h” YMB initials. Ugh. Payback might have been quite kismet in this case but I kind of wish he was killed instead. He deserves it.

Enjoyed reading this book. Towards the middle of it I started to get a better understanding of what was going to happen next; however, I liked the multi perspectives. The marriage between Daphne and Jackson seemed almost perfect but things aren’t always as they seem. Amber snuck in and mixed things up which I thought was a good part of the book. I highly recommend reading the prequel before diving into this book. I can’t wait to read the next one and see where Amber’s journey goes :)

This was an interesting read! I really liked the thriller-like vibes, the deception, the scheming - all of that was great. What I didn’t like was the amount of body shaming from the male character. HOWEVER, I knew that it was meant to stir up some kind of emotion (especially reading as a woman), so for that I get why the author was so unhinged with it. Quick, easy ready - great for a palette cleanser.

Entertaining easy read thriller, kind of Gone Girl-esque.
