Read as part of August Women in Translation Month.

I don't know whether to give this three or four stars. I feel like maybe I have read too many books recently that centre around writers or academics who are juggling womanhood or motherhood alongside it, and that in comparison to some of those (such as Breasts and Eggs) it just lacked some nuance. Which is a bit wild to say because the story was fairly well crafted.

Don't expect particularly like any of the characters as the book progresses. And, well, the ending was so abrupt that I think I might actually wind up forgetting it. A shock, but closed so quickly I felt like "Oh".

I borrowed this audiobook using the Libby app from my local library. Support your local library!

Sure sure, easy for me to love this book. So validating of my decision not to have children. But beyond that I absolutely love Ferrante's vivacious and clear writing style and her willingness to explore murkier human emotions.
