I loved the writing with its underlying tension and creepy vibes! I half expected it to be scarier but that could be because of my experience with the movie.
Although it took a little bit to get into the novel (about 50ish pages), by the second half I didn’t want to put it down while also cowering under a blanket. I love ghost stories/books about hauntings and this did not disappoint! Highly recommend for any other ghost/haunted story lovers, and it makes a perfect rainy autumn read 👻

The Woman In Black opens with Arthur's family telling ghost stories on Christmas Eve. I think that Arthur's narrative is the exact type of story one would hope to hear in that setting. Though the events of the story often seemed a wee bit predictable, I still felt invested in the way it all developed. Overall, The Woman In Black is a well-paced and spooky tale that I enjoyed reading!
