So like I remembered I read this book when I saw a tumblr post about villains that are just trying to break the status quo and are demonized for it, and what better representation of that of a genderqueer drag queen being told by a cis guy that the world is fine?

Like Poesy could have made the world better and we're just supposed to accept violent transphobia because a cis gay man thinks it's fine and it'll get better on its own.

Read this book in 2020 for the big library read and kinda wish I didn't.

Loved this. While the writing was a bit uneven, and the MC dealt with all of his problems by turning off his phone, the imagination and delight here is undeniable. The first reverie was interesting, the second enthralling, and everything beyond that unprecedented.

Reverie was an okay book. It had some pretty interesting parts and I was intrigued by all the reveries and stuff. Yet, things didn't always add up or make sense to me. So I wasn't really surprised by the confusion coming my way.

So the reveries were pretty unique and I really wanted to know more about them. I also really enjoyed getting to meet Kane, Adeline, Elliot, and Ursula. The one thing I didn't like was the evil drag queen. Which is probably the weirdest thing to say. I mean, at first, it was all kinds of cool and weird. Especially when it came to the drag queen but towards the end - I just didn't like the character. Then there's Kane, who would annoy me sometimes. Mostly because once things got good and we were close to finding answers he just ran away.

Ugh, it was so frustrating.

In the end, I guess I was expecting something a bit more but it was good.

DID NOT FINISH

I just couldn't. I don't know why, there's was nothing I didn't like about it. But I couldn't get through it.

This is a fantastic fantasy read. We follow a boy who can enter people's dreams, he and his friends join forces to take down a mad drag queen who wants to control people's dreams. If you're looking for a unique fantasy in the vain of Inception with queer characters, check this out!
