Reveries are just fanfic of real life and the instead of a queercoded villian the villian is just queer and I love that for this book I have to stan. The comedy here is exquisite as well as the stupidity of our protag sometimes but I understand, sometimes having a smart thought is hard. Anyways my friend made me read this and I dont regret it at all the characters are all so interesting and I'm so glad most of the mystery aspect is resolved halfway through because I am impatient and not knowing anything while the protag also knows nothing is literal torture lol. Anyway solid book 3.5/5 maybe 4/5 idk
I did not enjoy this at all - it read like a teenaged angsty fantasy action movie. Many elements of books I did like but the product was not something I liked, and I'm quite sad about it.
I enjoyed the concept of this world, but didn't like any of the characters.
this book was super interesting and i really liked it. it’s probably a little bit more of a middle school book
A feel-good story about the power of love in all its forms, be it romantic, familial or platonic, this book uses the fantastical to reflect on the real world. The plot was unique and fresh and I loved the treatment of teenage self-discovery, especially when focused mostly on the queerness of the characters.
Good story. Different story that had a decent plot. Liked the characters and the main character development. New take on magic in my opinion.
I really liked a lot of this and I can't express my love for the queerness of it all, but Kane is not much of a good person, I think. Actually, his being Kane is the reason I dropped one star.
That and the villainous monologues. I thought in 2020 we were past that already.

| For the most part I really like this story. I mean, there's a drag queen sorceress and your day dreams come to life!! How can you not like it already?!?! I found Kane to be rather taxing; between his naïve child-like mentality and all the wtf choices in the book, it made me really uninterested in his internal monologue moments. This could be why I was never super invested in what happened to his character and a big reason I sat through most of the book wondering when it would be over.
This was a fun fantasy that I think teens will appreciate.
