This involves a man who buys a house and hears it breathing. Tries to get the sanitation dept to fix it. That's how John Hyatt gets involved with Seymour Willis house. He brings a friend because he thinks this guy is just lonely old man. But one by one his friends are taken over by this entity. Now its up to him and an old Indian George Thousand Names to solve this or the demon will be let loose on the earth.

This was written in 1978 but except for a couple of references to having to find a pay phone to call someone it could be set in present day time. This was very suspenseful. I tried to not read it at night because it creeped me out a little.

I received this book from the publisher for free for an honest opinion.

Horror meets Greek tragedy

This started out as a typical haunted house book which was what I was looking for. It was scary, had hardcore haunting events but quickly turned into a story that I just wanted to finish. Demons based on ancestry and folklore I can deal with, it just got really whacky.

5 stars- It was amazing.

This is book is a fun to book to have all your friends read and bash it because it has not aged well, and in my opinion was not a good book. While it had scary moments, half way through the book, it flipped from horror to some fantasy hybrid that did not make sense to me. There is so many eye rolls that I can't go into it without spoiling.

the first half was dumb, but it did have its moments that were scary. Other than that, hard pass. Like reading this made me sure that I don't want to read anything else by him. I get it, it's the 70s, I shouldn't hold it today's standards, and believe me I'm not. I honestly doubt he actually visited the city he was writing about and maybe picked a map and an encyclopedic britannica and pieced it together.

It's a quick read, so there's that...
