My favorite of the series. Loved Max and Courtney's fun banter.

This was probably my least favorite of the entire series. Max and Courtney were extremely interesting characters who filtered through the previous two books - especially Max who you could just tell had more going on than what was projected. But when stripped down, it just seemed like the author wasn't quite sure how to portray them so she just kept layering on drama and more drama.

First there's Courtney - an openly bi character who recently broke up with her girlfriend and is trying to figure life out. We learn here that she comes from money with her parents paying for her school and sending her allowance, so basically she has never worked a day in her life. But luckily, she wasn't a spoiled princess. She rebelled against the perfect mold her parents tried to put her in and is just going through the motions until she graduates.

Then there's Max - the labeled playboy. I always knew there was more to him just based on how he felt about Lauren and here we see the stripped down version of him. We learn more about his family life and how he's been on his own since he was 16. He's the exact opposite of Courtney background wise but the two click so well personality wise.

What I liked was watching these two try to navigate as their feelings went from best friends to more. And since the book is from Courtney's POV, it was nice to see Max open up. Also, his brother was adorable and I'm glad that we got to see as much of him as we did.

What I disliked was the constant drama. It was literally just one thing after another to where it became unbelievable that this many bad things would happen to two people in such a short amount of time. Another thing I didn't like was how sappy Max became. Once they revealed their feelings to each other, he was like the pathetic puppy who follows you around because it wants a home. (Side note: I love puppies so this is in no way a dis to puppies, but you know the saying, right?) It was all "I can't live without you" "You're my life now". Please be your own person again, Max.

Overall, it was cute but over dramatic. And we got to see how everyone's story plays out in the future, so that was a plus.

genuinely could not wait for this book to be over. I love a good best friends to lovers, but this romance was so lackluster that I was bored reading the SMUT scenes (which I never am, btw). also, the protagonist has a superiority complex the size of texas despite never working a day in her life??? like girl what do you have to be proud of?

1/6 - So much better than the second book in the series (I stayed up till 3 am finishing it and had to have a nap this morning to make up for it)! I couldn't stand Lauren and I felt no connection between her and Rob, with Courtney and Max I was grinning when they finally got together and tearing up when
Spoilerhe dumped her (why couldn't he see her for who she was and that her parents money just wasn't a big thing to her because it was theirs not hers and just another thing for them to hang over her and manipulate her with and therefore not foremost in her mind of things to talk about?!)
. I was 'feeling' the connection all over the place and I could barely put it down, it's lucky it wasn't another 100 pages long, I probably wouldn't have gotten any sleep last night if it had been. After enjoying this one so much more than the previous book I will definitely look out for Nadia's story at the library.

So at first I didn't know or noticed that this book is the last of the trilogy. :o I was doing my book lottery thing and this is the first book I picked through that lottery. And I was searching it at Goodreads and shocked to see it's the third book. I contemplated reading the first two one but I checked out the summary of each. Thank God it's different people for each book. SO I'm safe to read it without reading the other two since this can be a stand alone. :)

Pretty fun! I love that the Courtney is such a witty woman and that Max is uberly hot. Lol. They complement each other really well. I got teary eyed too. T.T goodbyes are hard. It hurt my heart to think and place myself in her shoes. >_<

Aguirre, I must say, is a really good writer. She evoked all the right feelings from me. I was laughing one minute and then the next I was trying very hard to not cry. Or trying not to be turned on by the scene. :p I would definitely be looking out for more of her books in the future.

Thank you for the chance to read this book. :)

If you've read my reviews of the two previous books in this trilogy, you'd know that I'm not the biggest fans of these books. There's something really boring about them for me. So why did I read this one then? Well, I wanted to give this trilogy one more try and to finish with the trilogy. When given the chance, I like reading all of the books in a trilogy, series, etc. To get right to the point? I didn't finish this book. While the other two kept me engaged enough to keep reading them to the finish, The Shape of My Heart was simply...boring. I was so uninterested in everything that was going on that I found myself skimming the pages. I think I got about 25% before I decided to move on.

As I said, the plot itself was boring and there was no sexytimes at all. But for me, characters make or break it for me. If I love the character then the plot isn't as important. I wouldn't care what happens to them because I would be invested enough to keep reading. With this, Max and Courtney were both bland and boring ("boring" seems to be the word for this review...). Courtney was introduced in the first book of the trilogy but she was mainly nonexistent from the entirety of both books so The Shape of My Heart was the real introduction to her. And frankly, she's the stereotypical bad girl. What's really badass about having tattoos? Maybe it's just me but I didn't get it. Max, too, was boring. He didn't do anything and whenever it was a scene that was intended I'm assuming to be heart wrenching, I was waiting for something...anything...to happen.

In the end, I didn't even get half way with this book before I gave it up. I was far to bored to care about the characters or the plot or anything. I'm not sure if I'll read another NA book by this author. After this third one, I think I'll stick to her YA books instead.

Such a great book, great ending to the series, I just really enjoyed Courtney and Max's story! We hardly got to know Courtney before this book, and Max just a bit more, so yeah, really enjoyed this book! Such a great trilogy!
