I enjoyed the Irish setting, Marco, Marco and Breen's travel to Ireland together, and everyone being so gosh darn nice. And then it just became so dull. It was a real struggle for me to even finish this book but I trudged on cause it's for a book club. I've read some Nora Roberts back in my day and I didn't enjoy those much as well. I really think this author and I just don't mesh together.

This book took me to a new world.

I highly recommend The Awakening and I've already got the next one ready to read!

3.5 stars. Get a burlap sack, throw in all the popular and well-used fantasy elements you can think of so you don’t actually have to do the work of coming up with new ones, along with some good old misplaced cringe convos that’s supposed to be “cool,” the stereotypical heroine who needs to find herself, and you’ve got this book. Not bad, tended to move sooooo slow at some points, pick up, then drop. i was not in the mood for all that. i may still pick up the second book though out of curiosity.

I chose this book on a whim and I'm so glad I did. I really enjoyed practically every aspect of it and cant wait to listen to the rest of the series.
