A tale narrated in the ever popular 'Now and Then' format - a woman whose life has collapsed around her finds out that her beloved recently departed parents, weren't actually her birth parents. A mysterious letter leads her to Brighton and a fortune teller's caravan - all very exciting, yet reassuringly familiar.

I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, the holiday camp setting and the satisfying tying up up threads. A jolly good, warm bath of a read which gives you the sense that it will all be alright in the end.

Well, if you want a ’feel good’ book, this might just be for you.
Gentle, but with depth, this kept me engaged and keen to know the outcome.
Brilliant characters and the setting- Brighton UK is always a pull for me as I’ve spent many a holiday there.
Often when a book has more than one timeline, I prefer only one era. Not in this book as past and present were equally interesting. Don’t be put off by the subject matter of tarot cards- it isn’t at all far-fetched but just how the author linked the past to the present.

This random secondhand book find started out as an atmospheric, fun world with interesting characters - I was excited to see how they would all interact. Slowly over time, the book lost something. I think because that cast was so large, important relationship development didn’t happen, or happened “off screen”. This book couldn’t decide if it was focused on the place of work, or the relationships that manifested within that place. Still, this book isn’t one that’s meant to be taken too seriously.

If you’re looking for a fun summer read thats easy to digest and low stakes, or if you like books with large casts, this book is for you. If you’re a fan of simply pared down story telling and character relationships, you’ll still find some enjoyment but not a lot of payoff. I think perhaps I’m just not the target audience, which is okay!

Sidebar: as a tarot reader, I did find the specifics of the card readings and the perspective on tarot pretty accurate!

This is an enjoyable and multi-layered read. I have absolutely adored this one and found that this is a book I have devoured in just one sitting.

This book is filled with memorable characters and connections from past to present. This is a truly stunning read which has aroused so many emotions.

I am a fan of this author and this is a book I have been unable to put down. Hogan is the queen of uplifting fiction and although this is a novel filled with twists and turns, it is an easy and enjoyable read.

I have adored this wonderful read and this is definitely one I highly recommend to other readers.
