I’ve enjoyed her other books much more, but then I don’t really care for self-help. I’m a confirmed over thinker - thought this might teach me a few new tricks. She’s clever and entertaining. I love her blogs and podcasts.
The author has a knack of giving examples that are so relatable, things all of us experience in our everyday life. Most of us rehearse, rethink, reanalyze so many thoughts and ideas that we yearn for a switch to turn our thinking off. That's is what Anne Bogel does, she helps find that switch.
I really appreciated the tools and insights of this book. Great conversation fodder with other over thinkers and strategies to minimize decision making angst!
A delightful, yet practical read. I found many of the strategies helpful and particularly liked Part 3 about adding in more joy in everyday life.
I received a digital ARC of this book when I signed up for Anne Bogel’s Launch Team after I pre-ordered a physical copy. Like Anne’s previous novels, this one has major relevance in my life. I am an over thinker. I believe many of us are-some overthink all the time and some are situational over thinkers. What I enjoy about this book is all the tips and situations that Anne addresses in how to combat overthinking. I also enjoyed how she gives next steps at the end of each chapter in how you can address the various situations that she has previously discussed in said chapter. This book has put me more at ease when overthinking, if that makes any sense. It has given me many tools to help me address this problem. I am going to keep this book nearby because it is one that I feel will be an excellent resource to revisit if I continue to have these issues. Loved it!! #dontoverthinkit @annebogel
As an overthinker myself, I found some useful strategies and ideas from this book by one of my favorite podcasters.
4.5⭐️- I am not an overthinker and I never would have picked up this book if it hadn’t been a book club choice. I was pleasantly surprised by the enjoyability of the storytelling which opened me up to understanding how others’ minds work and how much mental chatter (obsessiveness?) some people live with constantly. I also really appreciated the little bite-size (read doable) life-hacks that one can apply to make meaningful changes.
Although I preordered this book the minute I found out I could, I jumped for joy when I found out I could get an advanced readers copy through net galley.
Just as the title suggests, Don't Overthink it is all about how people tend to complicate life by overthinking situations. I am a classic overthinker. Reading this book helped me recognize that how I think/feel is more common than I realized. I am not the only one in my social circle overthinking everything. Anne Bogel was able to help me recognize how my whole life has been impacted by how much I overthink small (and large) decisions and how in turn it is impacted my daughter. Some "self help" books are hard to relate to, but as I turned the pages (err, swiped on my kindle) I found myself in this book. As I read the book the first time I was just reading it, but I am excited to go back and read it again and this time take the time to stop and really ask myself the questions that are found at the end of each chapter. I need to apply all of the ideas to my life now so that I can stop overthinking everything and experience more joy in my life.

Practical steps to a clearer life. Establish your values, live into them, do a few things to de-clutter your brain. Live in gratitude and find joy in simple things. Seems obvious but it's good to be reminded.
I really enjoyed this book - more than I expected. I appreciated the snack-sized advice and actually wished it was longer.
