I’m a big fan of Anne Bogel and her work. I enjoyed her latest book and her gentle tone throughout. There wasn’t really anything new or eye-opening in here; it’s more like she gives you permission to just make a decision and splurge on things big and small (my favorite sections).

I’m not really an overthinker, but I read Anne Bogel’s other books and wanted to give this one a try. It had some good thought-provoking questions to review when you get in those overthinking situations. It was an easy read. I’ll check out what she writes next!

So glad I finally finished this one. I started reading it at the beginning of the pandemic and knew I wasn't in the right headspace for it. Picked it up again a week or two ago and enjoyed it, a chapter at a time. Lots of good advice. Honestly just reading through her experiences and going "me too" is cathartic but I also found a handful of tips and suggestions that I'll be carrying into the future.

Audiobook

HIGHLY recommend this book for anyone who struggles with anxiety, overthinking, and just bad thought patterns. This book was INCREDIBLE!!! Every chapter I was thinking 'this author is inside my head, like she knows exactly what I'm struggling with!' Not only did the author identify my struggles, but she gave bite-sized action steps with each chapter. This will become a regular listen for me as I continue working on my overthinking. Huge thank you to the author for such an incredible book!

This was a thoughtful summary that helped to reinforce various ideas and tactics I've been working on over the last year. I appreciated Anne's relatable, real-life examples. Timely for me. I will definitely be chewing on this and choosing tactics one at a time to simplify and bring more joy to my life.

A helpful and highly readable book. It starts with the author’s experiences of overthinking, as well as that of her friends and family. Then it moves into techniques for breaking the cycle. The last section is a little more loosy-goosy - nice things to do for yourself, and setting your personal values to prevent the opportunity to overthink about stuff (e.g. you’re happy to spend money on experiences, even if they’re a bit more expensive). The techniques for breaking an overthinking cycle were probably the most useful to me, but I did like some of the ideas in the last section.

The end took a slight religious turn - more the author’s experience of churchgoing and a couple of quotes from her priest. I had wondered if this book would have an element of religion to it (this would have put me off if I had known), but to be fair, it was short and non-preachy.

I really enjoyed this book! Very helpful. The advice contained may be obvious to some, but it was really useful for me.

Have you ever read a book and felt so understood and seen by the author? Add “Don’t Over Think It” to my list! This beautifully written work gives hope and practical tips for those who struggle with over active thoughts (I have already implemented some of Anne’s recommendations). Reading her words in this book remind me of the comfort and joy you find when gaining a newfound friend... The first time you connect and say “No way?! You too? I thought I was the only one!” Do yourself a favor and add this to your TBR!!

Not terribly helpful, but the book had some cute anecdotes. Maybe I’ve just read way too many self-help books on productivity and organization to learn something new. It’s definitely worth the read.
