There’s a lot that happens in this book including air miles. We finally have Sabina introduced. Alex has to run away because he has caused some trouble with a gang so in true conniving Alan Blunt fashion, he is sent on a mission which is said to be relatively safe. Ofcourse it isn’t and it’s just a series of unfortunate events after that. It’s strange re reading it at an age where I’m no longer younger than him. You concentrate more on wanting to kill Alan Blunt than anyone else
Third book in the Alex Rider series. A little darker, Alex is more and more left to survive on its own and brought into more and more dangerous missions. What sounded like a favour to check if the Wimbledon Tennis championship was under attack as an undercover ball boy quickly becomes a life and death struggle and insane race with an unstable Russian general race from Cuba to Russia. Alex doesn't find much solace or comfort and is well on the path of bitter deception. The action is fast paced and entertaining. The violence is up a notch from the previous two books.

Another fast paced and action packed adventure with Alex Rider. I really enjoyed this one, there's a lot of scene changes as he travels to different countries which adds to the fast paced tone.
The plot is easy to follow so for older readers (older than 17/18) like me it gives a nice break from the often more complex plot and subplot structures we find in books aimed at an older target audience. The subject matter the plot is based around, as with the last 2 books, is still pretty dark so won't bore an older reader.
It was definitely a fun read with some interesting twists and turns, the CIA elements were a nice addition, changing the dynamic of the story compared to the previous books. I wonder how the relationship between the CIA and MI6 will play out in the next few books.

Many people have been urging me to get on and read the rest of the Alex Rider series for a long time now. I kinda wish I had listened to them sooner.
When I read Point Blanc, years ago now, I remember thinking that the writing was cold and Alex was an uninteresting main character. Now, I can see that this is simply a style of writing I was not accustomed to.
Skeleton Key did not disappoint. Please keep in mind though, that this book is aimed at a younger age group. The story is simplistic. The plot- easy to work out. However, that doesn't make this read any less enjoyable.
