I absolutely adored the first two books in this series by Megan Bannen, and I was so thrilled to have the chance to read the third and final installment, The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam.

Only getting previously glimpses in the prior books, it was exciting to finally fully befriend the girl-boss immortal demigod and Tanrian Marshall legend, Rosie Fox. We got to learn Rosie’s history and it was so easy to fall in love with her confidence and charm. We also got to meet Dr. Adam Lee, genius and creator of the Tanrian Portals (plus some more exiting things). I loved getting to know and love Rosie and Adam, while also revisiting old favorites (Hart, Mercy, Twyla, Duckers, etc). Bannen did an awesome job at seamlessly blending in the characters from previous books.

This book, like the series, was the perfect cozy blend of the mundane and the fantastical. To me, this was the ideal ending to a delightful series. We got to see all the HEAs from previous books, as well as a new one for Rosie and Adam (plus Zeddie and Duckers).

*Big thank you to NetGalley, Megan Bannen, and Orbit/Hachette for allowing me to read this eCopy ARC. All reviews are my own.*

I really wanted to love this one, and while it’s definitely got its positives it is not a favourite of this series.

The first half of the book feels very slow, repetitive, and redundant. It feels like the author wanted to spend time with the mystery but didn’t actually spend any time trying to solve the mystery. It was “go here, go there, go back here” without any thought or attempted solutions from the characters. I suspect Adam’s POV would have had much more thought overall, but we spent the entire book in Rosie’s head and she is deeply lacking in awareness outside her own brain. It left me fairly bored and underwhelmed with the plot.

I also wasn’t fully sold on the romance as I was in the previous books. I enjoy Adam’s character, particularly in the second half, but Rosie is just this side of too silly for me. Sometimes she makes me laugh, more often she made me roll my eyes. While Adam’s aloof quiet demeanour made for a good contrast to Rosie, I don’t feel that they spent enough time genuinely connecting emotionally. Rosie’s growing lust just evolved into love without a ton of effort from either character. This wouldn’t be as big an issue if there were other things going on, but like I said. We go here, then we go here… then we’re in love. Meh 🤷🏻‍♀️

I’m not entirely disappointed in the book as a whole, but for a story that spends 70% of its time genuinely trapped in one location, I found everything fairly underwhelming.

This series has given me 3 years of all the feels, and I will be forever grateful 🩷 Thank you Megan Bannen for a series that will always hold a very special place in my heart!

Hop in your nearest pistachio autoduck and get ready for:
• more gentle dragons!
• ✨️ lore ✨️
• daddy issues
• there's only... no beds?
• forced proximity!
• ghost vines that aren't ghost vines
• how many times can an immortal gal die in one month?

Welcome back to the quirky weirdness that is Eternity & Tanria! This book follows demigod and Tanrian marshall Rosie Fox and the stony genuis Adam Lee as they attempt to fix the malfunctioning portals to Tanria. As always, Penrose Duckers (Pen, Duckers, Penny-D) is along for the ride to bring the light and humor that everyone needs!

I will never ever be able to fully say how much I appreciate these books. Yes, they are silly and goofy! BUT they also give you a full range of emotions and are filled with a lot of exploration of death and dying and what that means for different people.

This was a great last tour of Tanria before the series closed out and you get to see how everyone we have met in Eternity has faired through the years... and all the happy endings in the world because we don't believe in romance without a happy ending.

As always, thanks to NetGalley and Orbit Books for providing an eARC of The Undercutting of Rosie and Adam in exchange for this honest review!

I can't believe I got an ARC of this ebook! Thank you to Orbit Books and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this one early. I fell in love with the world Megan created in The Undertaking of Hart and Mercy and have loved all 3 stories that took place there. The characters were developed so well and I loved seeing Adam's personality shine through more as I read. Rosie was such a lovable FMC and I'm happy her story got told. The side character like Duckers and Zeddie really stood out as well. If you loved the other books in this series, you will definitely love this one! I can't wait to purchase this when it offically releases to add to my shelf.

I love Megan Bannen's brain and world building.  This third installment in the Tanria series focuses on the immortal and indomitable Rosie Fox and the mysterious Dr. Adam Lee.  Tanria's portals are going haywire, there are strange shadows only Rosie seems to be able to see and the taciturn Dr. Lee knows more than he's letting on.  We get to see our favorite characters from the past (including dragons) and there's a delightful B-plot that fans of the series will enjoy.  Each book in this series deals with Loneliness but in different flavors.  Hart & Mercy was loneliness due to lack of relationship/human connection, Frank & Twyla was about loneliness caused due to being invisible save for the role one plays in other's life.  Rosie & Adam was about loneliness due to abandonment and loss - in Rosie's case, it's because when you're immortal, everyone eventually leaves you.
While I'm sad to be leaving this world with it dragons and mythology - it was a satisfactory end to a great series.

Ok so I feel a tad disappointed with this book as I was just bored.. the plot was monotonous and the main characters had zero chemistry. Adam was very wooden and Rosie’s dialogue was cringey in places.

Duckers and Zeddie got their happy ending which I’m so glad for.

Thank you endlessly to Netgalley for the opportunity to read this e-arc!

I loved the Undertaking of Hart and Mercy, and I ADORED The Undermining of Twyla and Frank, and somehow my heart has grown 3x its size to make way for The Undercutting of Rose and Adam because this is my favorite book in the series now.

The world of Tanria is expanded so much more in this book, being back in this world feels like a warm hug. I love the pink grass and purple skies, the meeping dragons and the talking animals who deliver mail and sometimes commit mob crimes, they are all so special to me. Mary Georgina deserves the world.

Rosie and Adam's love story was wholesome and sweet. Like that feeling when you first develop a crush on someone and you want to be around them all the time and making them smile makes your heart race. Rosie is an immortal demi-god, tired of her life and constantly losing everyone she loves, the price that comes with immortality.  Adam is the inventor of the portals to Tanria, and is sent to repair them when they start malfunctioning due to a mysterious vine growing inside of them. Rosie and Adam have to work together to fix the portals when they are trapped inside Tanria together, and boy do we love a forced proximity opposites attract romance.

I was also so happy for the return of Penny-D and Zeddie, and of course seeing Hart and Mercy and Twyla and Frank. You definitely need to read the first two books in the series to read this one, you don't get the full experience of all of these wonderful side characters without them, and they're fantastic books!

I am so sad to leave the world of Tanria, but this is a series I will definitely return to and reread over and over in the future. Megan Bannen is added to my auto-buy author list now and I cannot wait to see what worlds she creates next.

If I could give this book a bajillion stars, I would, but times that by a trillion. I am in absolute LOVE over the world that Megan Bannen has created. I thoroughly enjoyed that we got more world building on the demigods and the general world that Bannen has created. The way that the author can take some simple romantic troupes and make them fresh again is amazing.

This series! All three books have been so much fun and I'm sad to see it come to a close, but so happy to have gotten Rosie and Adam's story! Rosie Fox is an immortal demi-god working as a Tanrian Marshall. When the portals to Tanria go on the fritz, Adam Lee, inventor of said portals, is called in to do repairs. When the repairs go awry and Rosie and Adam are stuck together, it becomes clear there is more to the inventor than meets the eye and they're going to need to work together to get out of this mess.

I know people were pulling for a Duckers/Zeddie book in this series, but I think there's just enough of their story in this book to make everyone happy! Rosie and Adam were, in my opinion, the stronger option to root this this book because there was so much to explore in their histories and characters. I can't wait to see what Megan Bannen does next, because I just know it's going to be a good time.

Even though the books in this series could probably be read as interconnected standalones, I highly recommend starting from the beginning to get the most out of the cameos and updates in this book!
