Things I loved about this book:
(1) There was more Blue and Gansey -- as in, we spent more time in their POVs and less in Adam's and Ronan's. Not that I dislike them, I just don't find them as compelling as I do Blue, and Gansey, and all of them together.
"Blue was perfectly aware that it was possible to have a friendship that wasn't all-encompassing, that wasn't blinding, deafening, maddening, quickening. It was just that now that she'd had this kind, she didn't want the other.'
(2) Adam overcoming his pride. I get that he had to have it for 2 books or this realization wouldn't have had any impact, but that doesn't mean I found it any less annoying. For me, pride seems like a minor thing when you're trying to survive. I haven't faced nearly the level of hardship that Adam has, but I have struggled with asking for help. But still, I loved Adam's realization that it is "okay."
"Was it okay? Adam had turned down so many offers of help from Gansey. Money for school, money for food, money for rent. Pity and charity, Adam had thought. For so long, he'd wanted Gansey to see him as an equal, but it was possible that all this time, the only person who needed to see that was Adam.
Now he could see that it wasn't charity Gansey was offering. It was just truth."
I also appreciated Blue calling him out on his shit and reminding him that she knows exactly (well, mostly) were he's coming from -- she's not Gansey or Ronan. I appreciated so much about Blue in this book -- I love her as a female character. She's bold and brave and takes-no-shit, but also kind and compassionate and loves her family.
I still don't understand what's going on with him and Cabeswater...and maybe I'll never get that answer.

3.5 | I feel like this was my least favorite one so far just because it focused a lot on the character development/personalities over the rest of it and like so much happened that I got so confused throughout. Like it’s magic and Mumbo Jumbo constantly like I just feel like I missed a lot cuz too much happened. There were a few cute moments and the end was wild but the whole middle was just a lot for me.

This one might be my least favorite of the series so far? I don't know. Maybe because it's the shortest, though not by much. Really, I feel like this book is a placeholder leading up to the final book, and the discovery of Glendower, and Gansey's inevitable death. Nearly every conflict is solved loosely and kind of just fades away, so perhaps that's why this book bothered me. There's no true spectacular thing happening in this book, except maybe with Adam.
Overall though, still a good book and still a good series. Praise continues to come from me on her writing, pacing, characters, and both Gansey and Blue's and Adam and Ronan's relationships (though the Adam/Ronan is questionable at this point in time, I definitely see it and ship it even more.) I'm EXTREMELY anxious to learn about Artemus, get a saner Gwenllian to give us answers (preferably not in song), see the relationships develop, and fight to the end that's going to inevitable make me cry when all is said and done. Until September 29th, which is the apparent release date for The Raven King, I will be impatiently waiting!

This is so far my favorite book in the series
I liked the action best, the plot wasn't as confusing, and the search for Glendower took an interesting turn.
My hopes are higher for the last book now. I haven't quite fallen in love with this series and everyone says the fourth book is their least favorite, so maybe I will like that one more then most

Cliffhanger Alert!! When does the next one come out? I feel like this one had better pacing than the second book and I got more deeply invested in what happened to the characters.
