I love the series. Would have loved more layers to the story plotline.
EXPLOSIVE.
Absolutely explosive.
The final book in the Playing With Monsters series did not disappoint.
As Lucian struggles to protect Lena from paying for the sins he has committed, he toes the line of doing whatever it takes to protect her and hurting her to do so. Lena finally seems to be at peace with herself, and the monster that lurks beneath Lucians almost mortal and civilized exterior. There are so many hurdles for the two of them in this book, and they really seem to come into their own towards the end of the story. The two of them absolutely wrecked me, and I wanted to strangle them both at different times throughout the book, but at the end of the day they work things out and I love the two of them together.
Also.... SPYDER
Yum.
That's it. That's the tea. I need more Spyder please and thank you.

Rating- 5
Heat- 5 Do you expect anything less from Amelia?
Entire series rating- 5
Need to know- There is a MFM scene in this book, but if this is not your thing, it can be skipped without losing any plot.
Amelia wraps up Lucien and Lena’s story arc in Revealing the Monster by giving her fans everything they asked for and more.
Revealing who or what Lucien is? ✔️
Giving us some time in Spyder’s web? ✔️
Appearances by our favorite fae? ✔️
Erie’s insanity? ✔️
Lucien showing the world how he feels about Lena? ✔️
Lena being a badass? ✔️
Hot sex?

I really could not be happier with how this series ended.

slow-paced
In one word: too smutty
I could have done without a sex scene every other chapter but especially the main one (which was several chapters long)
I like the conclusion and I got my answer (who Lucian really is and I love it!)
So wish this wouldn't have felt like a let's add another book to the series, which isn't really needed so just fill it with tons of smut instead of the storyline.
Lina's character felt too laboured this time. On the one hand, she went on how she was a monster and didn't care about what people thought on the other she was all torn up about stuff.
The twist at the end was great, I did somehow expect something in that direction, however again, it felt like why did we have to labour through this tediously long book with way too much smut to get here?
I like the world-building and funny enough I still like the characters.
So I will take a little break before reading more books set in this World .

Thankfully this series is done. Starting to see a definite pattern to Amelia’s writing. Basically she uses her same characters in new story with different names. I.e. Ryder/Lucian/Knox they have the same personality. Once you have read one of her series you know what her future stories will be, she might change little things such as what species MC’s are, but every rival female will have a name starting with “C” I.e. Claire, Chloe…FMC will always be 5’ 2” blonde, blue eyes with MMC 6’ 6” massive muscles. What is even more pathetic is as of this moment the release day, and there is 100+ 5 star reviews from 9 to 10 months ago asking for a release date, not one of them are actually reviews and if they are, they are not listed as ARC either, it mostly obsessive fans trying to push her review stars up. Used to love her writing and stories until I seen the same pattern with her characters, I bought this one to finish out the series. I guessed what Lucian was on last book. Writing is about the same she still has repetitive statements. I think the glossy shine has worn off Amelia as a go to author for me. And her characters are not as spicy and hot as other authors characters. I like dark erotica romance and Amelia’s writing is tame.
