Keeps you guessing

the only part in the book that I found any displeasure would be the very last sentence. Sandra Brown keeps you going from the first chapter until the very end. she keeps you asking, will they confess, if not her, then who? definitely one of my favorites by Mrs Brown

I don't know. It was a bit predictable. Nothing too special. Meh.

Loooooove it.

My Rating :
star : 4/5
bikini: 2/5

Fave Quote :
Dispensing with the frivolity, he kissed her meaningfully. When at last he pulled away, her troubled expression alarmed him. "What?"
"Be careful, Hammond."
"No one will know I was here."
She shook her head. "Not that."
"Then what?"
"You may have to put me on trial for my life. Please be careful that you don't make me fall in love"

Book is good.... Easy to like the characters and the way the book flows and the story evolves is too good.....

******Spoiler*****
What I don't understand is why does Alex needs an Alibi when she doesn't know that someone is gonna kill Luke...And last she checked, he was alive with a nasty fall.... Then why did she think about following DAs assistant and creating an Alibi!?? There are 3 major female characters and 2 male characters.... And the Protagonist had slept with all the 3 female characters!

Book #46 read in 2006

As always, this Brown book was well-written with great character development. There were just enough clues to keep me guessing, but not enough to ruin the "surprise". Many twists and turns kept the book fresh and kept me from putting it down.

This one was pretty good. It had all Sandra Brown's signature elements and kept me guessing for most of it.

Hammond Cross meets a mysterious woman at a local fair and spends the night with her.  In the morning, she is gone.  Not long after, Hammond discovers that the name of the woman he was with is Dr. Alex Ladd, and she is the number one suspect in the murder of local millionaire Lute Pettijohn.  Instead of coming forward and claiming to be Alex's alibi, Hammond lies to cover up his own involvement in the investigation.  As senior solicitor in the DA's office, Hammond is assigned the case and is determined to not only save Alex's life but also his own career.

The Alibi begins an engrossing whodunit with multiple suspects and lots of clues.  The two protagonists in the story are both hiding secrets and aren't honest with anyone including each other, making them less than likable characters.  The plot then becomes more about how these characters will maintain their secrets rather than the search for evidence to find a killer.  By the end of the story, all of the secrets are revealed, but the solution isn't very satisfying.  Overall, The Alibi has enough elements to make it an interesting mystery but not enough to make it a very enjoyable read.
