I really enjoy Brandon Mull as a writer. He has such a great imagination and his books are hard to put down. This book was no exception. I am anxiously awaiting the final book.

I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Brandon Mull. His series of Fablehaven hooked me from the start and with Beyonders it kept getting better! I loved that his characters were so easy to like and connect with.

Rarely does a book series keep its own momentum going past the first book, but in this series, each book in the trilogy is a solid 5 out of 5. The failure of the word in the first book really ups the stakes going into the second book. Because the word was basically their last hope, they now have to keep going despite the odds being so overwhelmingly against them. Speaking of the word though, I liked that it still has some pay off and they still got to use it.
I liked that Rachel got her own subplot of learning edomic. It gave her something to do, and I liked that it was kept as such an exclusive skill. Sometimes in pieces of media, they will introduce a powerful skill and then by end of the series, everyone is using it and it no longer feels special. But that did not happen here which I enjoyed.
The absolute best thing about this book though were the side characters.  The unique races and worldbuilding of Lyrian are the highlight of this series for me. And in this book specifically, we are introduced to so many cool characters that each have their own complex history and personality. In this book, we are introduced to the drinlings, the lurkers, and we get much more info about the Amar Kabal. As you get to know them, you can really feel them grow and change. This is definitely special because usually the main characters will be the focus and the side characters almost feel like set dressing, but not in this book. I also love that we get a whole spectrum of morality. On one end we have Farrin, who you are never fully sure if you can trust, and Aram, who is only there for his mom at first, and then we have people like Tark and Drake on the other end who are ride or die for the cause. I just like how we get a range of experiences and personalities.
Overall I love this book and this series.

I liked the book a lot, but Brandon Mull is a jerk to end another book with another cliff hanger. And a whole year until the next one comes out.

I am really adoring this series.
I love seeing more of the different wizard-born races and rebellion develop.

I was excited to get back into this world. Still not my favorite but I liked it.
adventurous

This is. simultaneously boring and intriguing?? i don't understand???

3 star for me, but 4 or 5 stars if you ask my 2nd and 3rd grade sons.
