Boy this was a long book. It was a good story but the middle part sure drug along in low gear for a while. The first part and the end made up for it and it was a worthwhile book for sure.

Plot-driven escapist pulp fiction, in the Stephen King mold, with a few hundred extra pages of padding, again in the Stephen King mold. First chapters were great, and the ending promising enough that I'll read volume two when it comes out....

Totally agree with the review I read that said the first quarter of the book felt like completely separate than the rest of the story. The characters that were introduced just didn’t grip me as much as those in the first quarter did.

Also, Amy is barely in this book LOL. This just needed a lot of editing and reformatting. It was outrageously dense and painful to read at times

Basically I'm having all the feels on this one. As a reader and a writer. I was emotionally invested despite myself, and the tense moments had me on the edge of my seat in a way I haven't felt in a very very long time. This book was incredible, start to finish.
