Mad World was a whole new experience!!

As always Hannah's writing style is so good I basically read the book in two nights! I got caught into the story really quickly and immediately I fell in love with the heroine, Maddie, really fast. She is strong, unique, and I love the fact that she will hold her position or won't accept other people's will/words/actions without putting up some fight first. She is brave and intelligent. She cares for her family and friends.

About Ryan, I was worried at first, all my friends were like... "Remy who?" (He is the love interest in Sanctum, another series by Hannah) but I didn't fall in love with him. He is a really good character I'll give that to him, but I just don't love him, yet. I feel I'm going to love him in the second book tho, I just know it.

About the story in general, I have to say, some stuff was predictable for me, I just knew XYZ things will happen. There were just a few things I didn't see coming. Also, there are a few elements/situations/characters that were similar or remained me Sanctum (just without the fantasy) but at the end of the day I don't think is a big deal, the book is still an easy read! And yes! If you are okay with the warning triggers the book has, I'll recommend you to read this book.

Mad World
A story where two worlds collide. Dubbed as a bully romance, I was definitely confused when reading as this isn’t a bill romance, but it’s a good story despite the trope not hitting the mark.

Maddie:
Maddie grew up in a bad area, living in a trailer. All she wants is to get out, and stay out. So when presented with an opportunity to switch lives with someone, she takes it and lets just say things do not go as she expected. We can definitely say the grass isn’t always greener.
I really liked Maddie, and it’s rare for me to say that for a character in a story like this. She doesn’t bow to anybody, she stands for what she believes in and won’t cower just because others tell her she has to. The things thrown at her she handled really well, and didn’t run and hide. As a heroine, and story teller she’s what you want.

Ryan:
Our hero…
I have seen Ryan referred to as an anti-hero, and I have to disagree. This is one of the few reasons that stopped me rating this 5
dark emotional tense slow-paced

Blew my mind on how I view bully romance

I didn’t think I really liked bully romances, having only read maybe 2 in my life until This one!
Mad World kinda blew all my thoughts on dark bullymance out the water.

Madison is living her life in the summer before her senior year and sure her life kinda sucks but she’s making the most of it. Until she stumbles upon a girl who looks exactly like her….fast forward a little bit and Maddie discovers she has a twin , Madeleine(Lainey) who is living the LIFE! I’m talking money, shopping, cars and luxury, all the things Maddie wouldn’t mind having because her life is anything but. They decided to switch places for the summer. What could go wrong? In a word EVERYTHING
Her twin dies and Maddie is stuck being Madelaine which wouldn’t be so bad if her fiancé wasn’t an asshole, her father didn’t micro-manage her and the whole school she has to attend didn’t wish she was dead. Her fiancé is the king of the school, alphahole, and possessive guy who holds the key to her survival, if only she didn’t lust after him and he didn’t hate her.
In this rich opulent world nothing is as it seems and Maddie has to navigate around the lies, deceit and horror , if she wishes to ever survive. I had so much fun reading this book and falling madly in love with Ryan and Maddie.
Mad world is an enemies to lover dark bully romance and the first book of a new series by McBride following up her smash success from her BlackWater pack novels. That you won’t want to miss!
TW: Childhood sexual abuse, Bullying, drug use, almost date rape and and alpha hole who can be an Jerk at times.
