Whenever I read this book to Gabriel as a toddler I would end up in tears. It is one of the sweetest books and speaks to a mother's complete love for her child.

I've known about this book for a while and have heard it read, but today I read it for the first time to my 6 week old son, and I definitely cried.
I'm not really sure why I hate this book so. I'm sure it's very sweet and heartwrenching etc etc. But it just creeps me out too much. Also the illustrations are annoying.
I am such a shallow person.
Edited to add: After reading the other reviews, I've just figured out that the mom in this book reminds me of my smothering father, who also creeps me out in many ways.
