I didn’t love this, at all. It’s a fast read, but felt agonizingly slow to finish. It is supposed to be reflective, and inspiring with moments of sadness, and hope, and joy, but I found it laborious at best.

I liked the execution of the essays relating to her songs and albums. Her voice was fresh, and it was an interesting look into the dreams and aspirations of a budding singer/songwriter, and how she became who she is.

This was such a quick read and I always find it incredibly interesting to learn what inspires songwriters to write some of my favorite songs. Sara Bareilles just so happens to have one of my all time favorite repertoires. I consider her a stylistic genius in every sense. OF COURSE I loved reading about some of her life and background. She's definitely a key source of inspiration for me personally and I think she's funny as hell.

Loved hearing this in her voice. I was at the same party she was at (the opening night of BEAUTIFUL) where she met Jessie Mueller! (I ushered at the Sondheim for the run of the show). I know, totally bragging, but it was fun to hear. BTW, SB, you totally dodged a bullet not being in that Central Park production of INTO THE WOODS. :)
