I really enjoyed this. I felt like it was a lot more personal than some other autobiographies I've read recently, and I enjoyed getting a glimpse into Sara's mind. I've adored her work for years, from her pop music to Waitress, and it was great reading more about it. I also loved the guest chapters that gave a little bit of an outside perspective on her, particularly the one that Jack Antonoff wrote. I just love Sara Bareilles a whole lot.

Loved this memoir. Funny and honest and relatable. Definitely worth listening to the audiobook version; she sings some songs.

A delightful, easy and (mostly) light-hearted read. Especially enjoyable if you're familiar with her work, as each essay is tied to a song. I also appreciated the pictures sprinkled throughout the essays.

The book reads as if you were sitting right there with Sara, chatting over coffee, or a great meal. (After reading this, I feel even more confident that given the opportunity to meet, we would become fast friends.) The thing I love most about her music is how easily relatable it is. The same openness and vulnerability she shows in her songs is in full supply here as well. Having each chapter tie in to one of her songs gives a clever framework to the book. A great read.

Literal tweet from me: “You are learning empathy and what it feels like to be left out. This is going to make you want to be the kind of person who makes room for people who feel like outsiders.” Thanks for capturing my awkward teen years and putting in words so eloquently, @SaraBareilles 💜

I think regularly about the chapter in which Sara discusses the song “Brave” and how she had to restart voice lessons to sing it live.

I’m a huge fan of Sara Bareilles’ music and have been to multiple of her concerts. She is the sweetest, funniest person. I loved reading her memoir and getting to know her on a deeper level.

Recommended for: Fans of Sara Bareilles and the musical Waitress (obviously!)

I really enjoyed listening to this. The song snippets that she sings at the start of each essay adds to this. I especially enjoyed the essay that was letters written to past and present Sara.

I wouldn’t consider myself a fan of [a:Sara Bareilles|2320959|Sara Bareilles|https://images.gr-assets.com/authors/1433416841p2/2320959.jpg] since I only know a handful of her songs (King of Anything, Brave, Love Song and Gravity). Even so, I thought this was a really good audiobook. Sara seems like a really nice, cool and down-to-earth person. What I enjoyed the most about this audiobook experience was Sara’s singing before each chapter!!

Each chapter starts with Sara singing a raw, unedited acapella rendition of her most popular songs, which really shows off Sara’s beautiful voice and talent. I like that this autobiography doesn’t just spew facts about Sara’s life, childhood and career but tells the story and inspiration behind each of her most well-known songs. These stories felt very personal and I honestly wish she included more (this book was too short!).
