I thought this book was excellent. The writing is so strong and detailed and poignant. I had read the book before in sixth grade but I didn’t remember any of it except hating it. But reading it again as part of a high school English program, i was able to appreciate the themes and language a lot more. It is such a touching, classic tale of love, friendship, family, struggle, and so much more.

Simple, sweet, feel-good book.

Though I had seen the movie but the book is a must read. Death being a narrator is quite interesting, keeps reminding shortcoming of us humans. I feel sorry for so many Jews for what happended with them during war. At the same time I think some Germans tried their best to help Jews. Not all of them were in favour of war.

The book highlights the harsh living conditions during the war. Shortage of food, money, work.
But despite of all this, people tried to live a good life with the available things.
Probably having people who truly love and care for you overshadows most of the problems of life.

By the end you are so much connected to each character specially Liesel, Papa, Mama, Rudy.

The book has so much and I don't want to spoil it for you.
