My first dive into the realm of historical fiction and this book gripped my heart and didn’t let it go. The point of view of the narrator is such an interesting means to tell the story of the Holocaust, I can’t stop thinking about it.

So glad my librarian recommended this book! As soon as I finished it became my favorite book. I just love the story, the history, the weirdness of it, and the emotion in it. So good!

It took me three re-reads to finally finish this. Probably because I didn't want to bawl my eyes out for the last third of the book.

This book about a young German girl in Nazi Germany is very dark and mostly sad but I loved it. The writer's style is also a unconventional and it took me a bit to get used to but I ended up loving his style in the end. I bawled my eyes out on an airplane as I read the last 40 pages.
