I absolutely loved this book! Ben and Kat's story was just so well written, The characters are well developed and the scenes will just pull you in.
Kat is one tough woman she works in a field dominated by men as a mechanic that works on large engines on cruise ship she has learned to be tough and self reliant. Kat is a carefree woman that loves to travel and scuba dive, in this book she is staying at wildfire lake and helping her friends renovate boats. Kat never thought about getting married and having kids so when handsome doctor Ben asks her out she figures it would be fun to date him for a while. what she didn't count on was falling in love with him and his three daughters. Kat is a fiercely protect woman and that soon extends to Ben's daughters.
Ben is new to the wildfire lake community and had no plans to date anyone after his wife passed away. He was too busy working and raising three daughters. So when Ben asks sassy Kat out no one is more surprised than him.
This is one sweet love story.

DNF 50%.

Made it up until the halfway point and then just could not continue anymore.

Where do I begin?

The prologue is so random because it takes place but is never mentioned again. So what purpose did it actually serve?

No background context is provided with regards to their lives or their business ventures but that might be because it's the second book of the series and I did not read the first one. So I shall let that one slide. However, there were certain things that were overexplained to the point where I wanted to say out loud, "We get it!" It is okay to leave certain things for the reader to come to terms to.

KT has absolutely no depth to her whatsoever. She is shallow and selfish. She portrays Ben to be a beta and too much of a pretty boy for her but he will do because she hasn't had sex in 6 months. Wow, how romantic. The relationship between KT and the doctor is highly unbelievable. They went from 0 to 100 and not in a good way. No development took place. No foundation was laid.

Then little things that irritated the crap out of me like how Dr. Latham all of sudden was referred to as just Latham and then later on as Ben with no development or clear link as to how the relationship escalated to that point of familiarity.

Also, what doctor in their right mind encourages drinking whilst popping pain pills. This might not be such a big deal but that just rubbed me the wrong way for some reason.

I just couldn't continue with this especially after reading some reviews about what happens at the end of the book. Thank goodness I didn't make it to the end because that would have me doing eyerolls quicker than a hamster on its wheel.

The characters are not fleshed out and the flow of the story is haphazard. So unfortunately, this story is just not for me.

This was such a cute story. Ben was always looking out for his daughters, but went for what he wanted at the same time. KT was terrified of giving her heart away and giving up the sea. Ben was able to give her everything she could ever dream she wanted. As she said, its paradise! I loved these two characters, and I'm so glad that they were able to put their fears aside and give each other their dream.

Treading Water

I think that treading water is tiring and a certain mechanic is about to learn it too. Her adventurous spirit and wanderlust life are glamorous. However, watching her friend settle down has left KT in a funk she can't figure out. She can't imagine leaving the sea and travel behind but she can't get the image of their love out of her head. And then she meets HIM.

Single dad, doctor and the antithesis of everything she thinks she wants. Until she realizes its not wanting but need.

Two very different people and a connection worth fighting for. A new adventure. And a happy ending that will leave you with a case of wanderlust and goggling catamarans and sailing lessons even if you live in a land locked state.

KT has been travelling the world since she was a child alongside her Dad. Following her father’s death she embarks on a series of contracts working on cruise liners and boats as a marina engineer. Meeting Chloe and Laiyla a little over seven years ago she finally made some best friends who have seen her go from hook-up to hook-up, never dating, never getting close to anyone.

Ben has recently moved to Wildfire Lake with his three daughters. His wife died a few years ago and wishes for his girls to have more family close by. Meeting KT at the hospital where he works, she is unlike anyone he has come across before. Confident and knows exactly what she wants. In Ben’s case it’s just a hook-up that she wants not romance. However, after meeting his daughters her mama bear instincts kick in and falls in love with them.

Being in Wildfire Lake was only ever supposed to be a short term thing. Helping to renovate the marina before heading off into the sunset on a sailing boat. Is there a way to make this into a relationship? Or do they just want/need different things in their lives?

A Book to Sail Away With!

KT seemed like such a strong independent character I wondered who could bring out her softer side. Dr Ben and his three girls were just what she needed.

This second book in the Wildfire Lakes series was a good one. Easy read about learning to open yourself up to the unexpected.

KT‘s story was so unexpected. After reading In too deep I was so sure that Chloe was next but no it was KT and I‘m not disappointed.

KT is a free spirit. She works on boats and has been sailing almost her whole life. She doesn‘t know any different so staying in a small town for a long time was not something she expected and even less was falling in love in said small town with a single father of three girls.

Ben is new in town. He and his three daugthers just moved to town after dealing with a tragic loss. He‘s a full time dad and doctor. So obviously he doesn‘t have time for anything especially not out carefree heroine.

I really enjoyed the story between them. It was a fast and quick read and I devoured it in one go. KT and Ben are perfect for eachother even though they are pretty different but that doesn‘t get in the way. I also loved the addition of three little ladies who took over KT‘s heart in a storm.

We’re back in magical Wildfire Lake! This series has such interesting bones- the background of these three friends who have such serendipitous connections and their journey to Wildfire Lake to revitalize a family business. While this can be read as a standalone, I think it is best read after the first book, which not only explains the prologue of this book but also gives much more depth to relationships in this story.

This is KT’s story- and if age gap, hot single dads, and independent tomboy heroines are your thing- you should check out this story. It’s a fast and light read- focused on one central drama don't the connection of Ben and KT. This definitely has an instalove feel to it- they fall hard and fast. Their chemistry was strong, they open up to each other quickly, and they have a sexy sizzle between them, so that worked for me.

KT is definitely a unique heroine- and I loved that Skye made her so different. She’s more the “man” stereotype. She’s confident in her sexuality, only does one night stands, doesn’t want to be tied down to anything and anyone, and she’s a mechanic, no less. An accident puts her in the path of Dr. Ben- our sexy single dad raising three little girls all on his own. They have a spark, and a chance encounter and ultimate connection between his daughter and KT keep their paths crossing. Ben isn’t sure he can do the casual thing- not with his daughter, and that is not who he is. But their attraction is undeniable, and eventually KT finds herself interested in more than just one night.

I loved learning both of their backstories- and I appreciate how openly Skye has them communicate with each other so honestly and vulnerably. The romance and character connection is quick- and the central tension elevates quickly. I found them both charming and their romance to be both sexy and sweet.

Where this lost me a bit was in the ending. I actually can appreciate that Skye has the man making all the changes for the woman’s dreams, and I appreciate her having a very unconventional HEA. It isn’t really what I wanted for KT and Ben, but that I can get over, but what I struggled with more was that it just didn’t feel like it aligned to who Ben was and also made me think KT didn’t really grow or change at all as a character. It is definitely an interesting idea, and I’m sure some will love where Skye went with the ending even to me it felt a bit unsatisfying.

I’m still loving these friends- it was great to see them supporting each other in this story, and I can’t wait to get our final book- I can already feel some angst coming from our carefree Chloe’s romance.

Another great book in the Wildfire Lake series! I loved this book! I am a sucker for a single dad romance and this one delivered! I was hooked immediately! I couldn’t put the book down! Selfishly I wanted the book longer! Wanted another book where the epilogue starts!!! There was no unnecessary drawn out drama either! I would absolutely recommend this book!

Received an arc for a honest review.

I really enjoyed the first book in the series and because the women friendship was so strong and beautiful made, I was looking forward to this second book in the series.
Same beautiful aesthetics set up with many great characters and a very good mix of personalities, the story is definitely not exactly what I was expecting.
I liked the witty banter and smart retort, all the challenging moments and the steamy romance scenes but, personally, I don’t enjoy an age gap romance, more so when kids are involved. Just a personal feeling.
The story overall is very interesting and great and many people will enjoy it.
