A thought provoking story that depicts why sexual assault cases next see the light of a court room. The process is time consuming, lawyers can brutal, and it may do more harm than good. 

Megan Goldin is an auto-buy author. The first book I read by her was Stay Awake. She does an amazing job at character building and touching on subjects matters like sexual assaults or mental health conditions. These topics are normalized in Megan’s stories. I found myself both times rooting for the main characters, and the side characters, wishing them all a happy and successful outcome.

I am looking forward to reading the sequel, and I hope our main character Rachel continues to fight the good fight.

Audio version was entertaining with the podcast element. Extremely dark/heavy subject matter but I never guessed the ending, which is rare and a big plus.

This was unremarkable but easy to get through. Despite the heavy content (and it is extremely heavy), this was a quick read. The writing style was mediocre, at best. The characters were flat and overly simple. The "twist" was telegraphed way too hard, and there was only the one twist, so it wasn't even a fun ride. The two plots were so tenuously connected that it felt like I was reading two different books.
My overall feeling is just meh. I don't think I'll remember this book next month except maybe as a story so obviously inspired by the Brock Turner case that it felt weird to read.
