3.5. The ending took a bit away from it, it felt too abrupt.

Hay mejores.

Apparently, not one of Christie's better works. At Bertram's Hotel exceeds in establishing an atmosphere but leaves Miss Marple somewhat sidelined as the Chief Inspector of Scotland Yard leas the investigation. A delightful conceit but not a terribly satisfying crime or conclusion.

My first Agatha Christie Book! Yes, I do realise that I started on #11. However, the best thing about Miss Marple Books is that you can read them as a stand alone!

I loved the iconic twists and turns, the hints of information scattered around, the vibrant characters, and the shockingly good ending, which pieced all of the information together. Definitely would love to read more of Miss Marple's Series!

"A princípio parecia maravilhoso, inalterado, compreende? Como uma volta ao passado... àquela parte do passado a que se ama e recorda com alegria. [...]. Mas na verdade não era nada disso. Verifiquei - acho, aliás, que já sabia disso antes - que não se pode nunca voltar atrás, que não se deve tentar voltar atrás... Que a essência da vida é andar para frente. A vida é na realidade uma rua de mão única, não é?"

A fun read, though it felt a little less exciting for me than other Agatha Christie books. Maybe because Miss Marple didn’t seem to do much? She kind of takes a back seat in this one. The descriptions of the hotel are very fun, though. I almost would have rather had more focus on the place itself, rather than the action happening around it.

When you don't want anything too heavy but just engaging enough, then Agatha Christie is just the right choice - can never go wrong!
