A fascinating adventure. It was a "Marple Mystery" of course, but at her age, she plays a minor but critical part. She also helps a great deal to set up for us what is so unique about this hotel. Leave it up to Chief Inspector Davy a.k.a. "Father" to tidy up the crime and in the meantime putting all the pieces together. For those fans of British mysteries "Father" reminds me of Chief Superintendent Strange of "Inspector Morse" in girth and Chief Inspector Barnaby (either one) - of "Midsomer Mysteries" in terms of personality.
At Betram's Hotel really has two separate mysteries - one involving a crime syndicate and one involving a murder. The murder doesn't actually occur until nearly the end of the book. Though Miss Marple is quite present, and we do get to spend time with her, and she does observe things, she isn't as actively involved as she usually is. It's a nice book and an enjoyable read.

If you like Agatha Christie, it was fun, and it only took me two days to read. I haven't read Miss Marple in a while, so maybe I forgot that she's just not as involved in her mysteries as Poirot is (or maybe it's just this book? Could be), but nevertheless I thought the mystery unfolded well and held my attention.

Whilst I enjoyed At Bertrams Hotel I have to admit the plot os rather weak, and frankly quite predictable. Miss Marple is barely involved, and whilst she's often lurking in the background of her novels she's really unneeded in this one. It feels like the set up to a series about Fred Davis, rather than a Miss Marple, like she was added in during a 3rd draft honestly.

Loved the voices/accents of the narrator of the audiobook! The story was fun and compelling, though wrapped up quite quickly. Not my favorite book of hers, but overall, a fun cozy crime story from Agatha Christie is always a good time.
While reading this book, I was vacationing at an old-fashion hotel with big metal keys we had to leave at the front desk when we left the premises. It was fun to imagine I was also staying at Bertram’s.
