I had a wonderful time listening to this. I can understand why several people enjoyed it and why it's a classic.

this book is a jumble of puzzle pieces at the beginning that become a full, satisfying picture at the end. i really enjoyed it, particularly the last half! i gave this book 4 stars rather than 5 because (1) it took me a bit to get into it and (2) there are several lines and jokes that reeeaaally didn’t age well. overall though, it was delightful! i’m very excited to watch the show!

I wanted to watch the series, but decided to read the original material first. Maybe that's where I went wrong: I started this book with some expectations.

For example, the chemistry between Crowley and Aziraphale. It is there, but not as prevalent as I had hoped for. Overall, I hoped for much more appearences than they both had. The other characters weren't per se uninteresting or boring, but compared to a demon and an angel they almost always lose out.

The writing style itself is fine, there are some really funny moments, the end revelation is somewhat sweetly philosophical, but I can't help to find it rather underwhelming for the fantastic basic idea of the book.

Ridiculous in the best way! The story is clever and hilarious and overall surprisingly heartwarming. The BBC radio dramatisation is brilliant.

This was unlike anything I'd ever read before. I very much enjoyed it - so clever and funny, and the perfect amount of gentle mockery of Christianity.

At least one of the things at it's core is just being human. That's what the book is about. They're all human. Even Crowley and Aziraphale. I adore the notion that if you spend enough time amongst human beings you become a bit human yourself. And that it's not necessarily a bad thing. Worth preserving the world over, even.
