I finished this book solely because I loved Neon Gods. I stuck it out waiting for it to give me that same flare but it fell short. Starting with Hades’ book…the scary but equally hot demon himself & then reading about Eros, a baby boy doing his mamas bidding may not have been a fair comparison to begin with. Nonetheless, I stand by my 2 stars.

DNF. Made it about 1/3 of the way through before giving up. I’m not a fan of writing styles where the entire book is dialogue and thought. Where is the description, the world building? Even the spicy scenes lack a well-roundedness.

The characters are flat, the romance/interest just felt so forced, and the “plot” was boring.

I made it through Neon Gods, barely. Not sure why I picked this up.

“‘I’m making a chaos monster!’” - Eris, Electric Idol

Rating: ✨✨✨✨

Welcome back to Olympus! This time, the story follows Psyche, sister to Persephone, and Eros, son of Aphrodite, as they navigate their way together through the Upper City of Olympus. Aphrodite wants Psyche dead and Eros is supposed to be her knife in the shadows. But when Eros and Psyche meet up, both of their fates change course.

Like I said in my last review of this series, I wasn’t super sure how much I would like the story as it wasn’t about Hades and Persephone (as that was the reason I picked up the series in the first place), but Katee Roberts did not disappoint with Eros and Psyche’s story again! I enjoyed the storyline and the themes that the author was able to incorporate, like body image and social media. Again, loved the dual POV and the narrators, who just brought the story to life even more. I appreciated Eros’ development throughout the story and how he dealt with the trauma he had experienced in his life. I loved Psyche’s unique way of solving problems and how she used her image and social media to her advantage throughout the story.

I don’t think there was anything I didn’t like about this book. It was a good story through and through.

There were some spicy scenes, but nothing like the first book from what I can recall. All in all, I am happy that I decided to continue to listen to this series, even if it's something I didn't think I would like at first.

I LOVED Neon Gods so I was excited to read this but it just wasn’t doing it for me. Felt drawn out and the story was a bit basic.

Maybe even 4.5 BUT I LOVED THIS SO MUCH.

Eros and Psyche are my favourite Greek myth (and have been for over 15 years) so to read this????? INSANELY AMAZING, thank gods for it!! I had a lot of fun, I absolutely loved confused puppy Eros and what a huge simp he was for this fiery, passionate and strong woman. Lovely, lovely, lovely!!!!!!!!
