"Sometimes the things you've lost can be found again in unexpected places."

An amazing ending to a wonderful series. I would have likes to have some more answers, such as what happened to the Quagmires, what was in the sugar bowl and what were the Baudelaire parents doing that led to these events. Yet I understand why we are not given all the answers, because that is not the way that life works. I loved the fact that despite how many people failed the Baudelaires, they always had each other and this continues to the very end, along with the addition of baby Beatrice.

After experiencing a year of peace without threats from the outside world, the children sail off to get back to society and while the ending is ambiguous, I choose to believe that they lived their lives happily together. It's not really the end after all.

Outstanding!! Snicket does a great job of explaning how stories have no beginning and no end, before ending the book with unanswered questions. Shocking twist at the end when you discover that Snicket's beloved Beatrice was the Baudelaire's Mother!!!
