A shorter Dumas story, set in Holland in the late 17th Century during the tulip craze and amidst the national and international political turmoil of the times. A well told tale, even if it's not The Count of Monte Cristo or The Three Musketeers.

Dumas’ child-like cartoony characters and his wrapped-in-a-little-bow story that ends unrealistically are two major things that grated on me. I won’t be reading his other novels.
Leggere un libro di Dumas per me è sempre un po' come tornare a casa dopo un lungo viaggio: è rassicurante, familiare, accogliente.
Questo mi mancava (fortunatamente la sua produzione è vastissima e c'è sempre qualcosa di suo che mi manca) e dopo averlo finito non posso che essere contentissima di averlo letto. C'è tutto quello che amo di questo autore: intrighi, romanticismo, politica e soprattutto l'ironia che è il vero tratto caratteristico che me lo fa amare così tanto. I suoi personaggi sono come vecchi amici, gli si vuole bene anche e soprattutto se non sono perfetti.
