I was pretty on board with this book cause I was interested to see what weird things men came up with about women. However, I feel the need to stop here.
I agree that Saudi Arabias laws can be too extreme. I agree that FGM is a horrible, horrible thing and that people care wayyy too much about female virginity.
However, that doesn't suddenly make modesty a bad thing. The false assumption here is that modesty is bad because it limits freedom. In my opinion, we shouldn't be making women have more free sexua freedom but make men more modest. Neither men nor women should sleep around and if the hijab is a oppressive then does Islam's requirement of wearing clothing from navel to the knee also oppressive? What about not eating certain foods?
