Really great diverse characters, settings, internal and external events. This is how characters should be, Steinbeck describes California during the great depression wonderfully

This is the first time I read this. I usually enjoy Steinbeck, but he's a writer that's great when he writes short books, I think. This is great, to the point, and there's a lot of the thoughts in this book that hit home with me.
