I see now why Anne Elliot is such a favorite of the Jane Austen main characters. She is so much more relatable in character. She is taken for granted but she is sure of who she is. The other characters are okay. It does make me want to visit Bath and Lyme!

I find Anne to be the most relatable of Austen’s heroines for me, because we are so alike. As the title suggests, Anne is easily persuaded—a people pleaser, she sees the best in those around her and often lets them walk all over her. She listens to others often to her own detriment, and much of her arc is her learning how to fight for what she wants and what will make her happy. I really related to quiet, introverted, wallflower Anne. Everyone comes to her to unload their problems and seek advice. I often feel like those in her life just see her as someone who is there to listen. It was interesting to see how all those in her life really relied on Anne but also rarely seemed to really see or think of her. I really related to this and I often feel like a side character, so it was nice to see someone who would usually be the best friend character get her romance and her happy ever after and come to value herself more.

Also, obviously the best part of this was THE LETTER. HELLO??

I used to be an avid second-chance romance hater, but that’s really changed for me over the last few years. I like seeing the dynamics of our relationships can fail due to our own shortcomings and how we can work to repair them when we truly value them and commit to maturing. I think it showcases how any relationship requires introspection, care, and effort.

Delightful and dreamy second chance at love…Swoon to be Anne Elliot - I could at least put myself in the way of happiness 🥰
