Javier Zamora remains one of my favorite writers I have ever had the privilege of reading from. His words are tender, raw, heartbreaking, and wildly moving. It's as if he won't let you catch one breath because each word/verse/poem delivers another gut punch to illustrate the insurmountable despair he worked through as a mere child. Even if you read this and it is not your favorite (many people simply do not *get* poetry and that's totally okay, not everything is for everyone), I highly recommend you to read Solito too.

glad to have read his poetry book before the memoir
poetry isn’t a genre I generally gravitate towards but it was a refreshing read
