This was a fun light read, although it was not my favorite. I love a queer rep in young adult fiction, so this scratched that itch.

Def on the young side of YA. It was very fun, though, and sweet. Had some dips in interest for me, but I had a good time.

I loved this - it was light, fluffy, fun, adorable, and overall just a really good time. It had enough danger to keep most anyone engaged, but really it was just a great time. 

The romance was really adorable, I loved the sibling interactions, and there was enough plot that I didn't feel like it was pointless but I also never felt stressed, the perfect cozy vibe. 

If you want something deep and meaningful, you aren't going to find it here - but there is a great coming of age and self-acceptance story wrapped in an adorable romance, including a merman, some pirates, magic, and royal/political intrigue. It's a great time and I recommend it to anyone needing a pallet cleanser or something easy in between heavier reads!
