I am not a big James Patterson fan but there was something about this book that interested me. When the book starts the President is having to face tough questions about his relationship with a known terrorist and facing impeachment. From there we learn that the President knows something horrible is about to happen to or in the US and he must work alone to stop it. The first 150 pages were extremely fast paced and action packed. Overall I really liked the book but the main issue for me was the pacing and length. It did not need to be over 500 pages. I know it is being made into a TV Series and I define it think it will be a good one to watch. I listened to the audio book and also read the book. The audio book is narrated by Dennis Quaid and he does a dry good job. I don't know if he will be in the TV show but I can not imagine anyone else being the President for it. I would recommend it if it sounds interesting.

The adventure of President Gary Stu, Bleeding Heart Hero Extraordinaire. Plus some ranting from ole Bill and Hilary about patriotism, sacrificing for your own country, and Republicans being out to get them. You can even tell who wrote which chapters.
Pretty dull for a James Patterson novel.

I know it is the cool and trendy thing to have a negative opinion of James Patterson and to refuse to read any of his works, but he is the world's best selling author for a reason. This book is like eating a donut; nothing but sweet thrills, delicious twists, and a sugary overload (in a good way) of suspense. I loved it.
Writing this book with President Clinton gave this book a coat of authenticity and realness that would be missing without him; nobody knows how to be president better than a president. His insight was great and helpful to the book. I give this book 4 stars however because of much of the President's parts are self-serving. It many places President Duncan does not read like a novel character; full of flaws, making mistakes, personal growth. It's clear President Duncan was written by a President. A lot of it is justification, defense, and glowing reviews about what Presidents do. And in some cases, it reads like a cheesy, over-patriotic action movie, where the President is *never* motivated by politics and *never* acts based solely on politics. I don't view myself as overly cynical when it comes to politics, but parts of it were laughable. You will get more than a few eye-rolls out of this book. Also, the President is *always* the hero.
The book is great, its a juicy, fun read. It really is like a donut; no nutritional value but a super tasty snack. I have recommended it to numerous people, but just know that the book was written by a President (in part). It's clear which parts James Patterson wrote, and which parts Bill Clinton wrote. However, it is more than worth the occasional eye-roll. This book is a rollercoaster I couldn't put down. Read it!

a big giant...eh
bad writing, nothing too special in terms of characters, predictable storyline, and an agenda that was more heavy handed than al gore on a whaling boat
also, dennis quaid read the audiobook, and i freaking HATE dennis quaid

The book is a good read. However, the title was very misleading. I thought I was getting myself ready for a book about the president being kidnapped. Instead I got a book what it’s like to be president during a potential cyber terrorist attack.

A Dan Brown style adventure but easier to follow. Enjoyable, especially if you like political thrillers.
