This book tried too hard to comment on social issues, using a dystopian future with completely ridiculous rules and regulations as a metaphor for appreciating our flaws rather than striving for perfection. I get that it's YA but there was far too much of Celestine, the protagonist, explaining every little thought and feeling as if the reader wouldn't just understand how a 17 year old girl would feel being put through every thing she has. The emphasis on her 'connection' with a male character she never even spoke with was too forced and her infatuation with her boyfriend throughout was also quite boring, frustrating and a little out of place considering the premise of the book. I wanted to like this but it really didn't work for me. It's a shame because I generally enjoy Ahern's work.

Has potential, but did not use full

3.5 You look at the book and its blurb and immediately think this is another teen dystopia novel, a girl overpowering a corrupt government while deciding which boy she likes and it basically is. But i really enjoyed the book.
Something about the people in this society in this book just seemed more human, like they weren't just emotional robots, it was interesting. The whole concept of flawed in the society was just so stupid, I mean the whole point of the book is that everyone is flawed, nothing is perfect, these people were just so indoctrinated and blah blah controlling governments. Despite there kinda being a love triangle there wasn't really much romance, the book was maybe a little bland but I enjoyed it, it doesn't have be a masterpiece to be fun to read.

An engaging premise that feels about 80% thought through. I have so many questions about the reality of how a system used in the book would actually function. But the general idea is interesting and well presented.

Intense

I saw this book all of Instagram and thought I would check it out! It's definitely worth the read!!! !

This was a really interesting book for me.
In a society where you have to be perfect and you'll be punished and labeled if you aren't, what would you do when you're put in a decision between being punished or ignoring an elderly needing help?

Flawed's concept intrigued me. I did have fun reading this book despite its somewhat disturbing graphic violence scenes. However, I wouldn't be continuing reading the series as I had lost interest.

Ihana! Ahernin ensiloikka YA-kirjallisuuteen, eli nuorten aikuisten maailmaan. Ja saa lukea vaikka olisi aikuinenkin! Ihan mahtava juttu. Sijoittuu tulevaisuuteen, eli jonkinasteinen dystopiatarina. Ja jatkoa tulossa toisen kirjan muodossa vasta loppukesällä - kuinka maltan odottaa!
Päähenkilö on täydellinen, kaikin puolin, kuten yhteiskunnassa pitääkin olla. Vialliset polttomerkitään ja sysätään yhteiskunnan laitamille. Mutta mitä jos täydellisyys alkaa rakoilla? Mitä jos täydellistä väitetään vialliseksi? Tapahtumat saavat aikaan hurjan myllerryksen eikä entiseen ole paluuta. Kuinka tässä käy?
