I was surprised at how weak Bernard was at the end of the book. I like the subversion of his initial beliefs as he was confronted with being exiled. The conviction of our beliefs can easily change when confonted with the consequences. I loved the writing style and I understand why it's a modern classic!

Food for thought.
I found it rather confusing at first and some suspension of disbelief was necessary because I couldn't quite picture the world the narrator was describing. However, the plot got progressively more interesting and thought provoking.

I can't really say that I "liked" this book. But I'm glad I read it.
