my lowest rated abby jimenez's book yet - she's my favorite :') this book was one of the rare cases of the mmc deserving so much better than he got

the emotional cheating was icky to me

the non-stop self destructive tendencies of fmc also was hard to read, furthermore i could care less about her being a cool girl

the miscommunication trope was on full throttle with this one

rip brandon i fucking hate that he died :(

in the end, i understand that this was abby jimenez's debut, she's certainly come a long way in terms of her characters and writing. i will still read more from her (idk if i can read sloan's book yet though)

almost forgot to mention that i cried bitch baby tears - but abby always makes me cry

This book made me cry. A few times. The only reason it is not a 5 stars is that I felt like the back and forth between Josh and Kristin got repetitive and could’ve been cut by just a tad.

Meh.

The best thing in this book was the narration by Teddy Hamilton.

This book was all over the place. I enjoyed the first part of this book for sure. But the FMC has some serious confidence issues and a tendency to live out all scenarios in her head and make all decisions for everyone. I read books to escape. This was not my jam.

Killing off Sloane’s fiancé to set up book two was awful and it felt out of place in this story. And the two main characters getting married mere weeks after their best friends’ wedding didn’t happen due to the death was unreal.

I get the idea of trying to write something that feels real but this was just enjoyable to read. I’ve read plenty of books that have felt realistic and were 1000 times better.

I will not be reading the rest of this series.
