Once again, Abby Jimenez has written a book that I couldn’t put down. I’m in love with the characters of this book, especially Stuntman Mike, and their lives that are not Hallmark-perfect. As someone who had terrible periods and had a hysterectomy when I was 30, I can feel Kristen’s pain and how hard it is to go through such a thing. But having a partner who loves you unconditionally and can help you get through those insecurities is imperative.

Another home run by Abby Jimenez. I am reading the books in this series totally out of order but it has not interfered with my enjoyment of them. I love how her characters face challenges in life and overcome them and even though there is a happily ever after there is still some unresolved challenges just like in real life. She is quickly becoming an author that I would prebuy a book coming out and know that I will enjoy it.

I’ve read two books by this author-the first (part of your world) I wasn’t a fan of, and the second (yours truly) I adored. This read trite and often misogynistic- like the stereotypical male writing a romance.  For example:
“She was like a unicorn. A mythical creature. An honest, no-drama woman who didn’t bullshit and drank beer and cussed and didn’t care about what people thought of her. She was a unicorn, tucked in the body of an attractive woman with a great ass.”

And their romance turned my stomach seeing as she’s IN A RELATIONSHIP!! With a deported solider. The justifications for it? Just Gross.

And then the tragedy hit. It was unnecessary and awful and did not need to be done. I guess solely to create a sequel? Absolutely Disgusting.

PLEASE be careful - I was not prepared for a trauma that happened in the book and it really affected me. I have not been triggered by descriptions of car accidents before, but this one definitely got me. Otherwise, I enjoyed the book but definitely loved her later novels more.

I loved this book, such a rollercoaster of emotions, the anticipation, depth of characters, and love story was so great!! I laughed and cried with this one, definitely check the TW, I was not prepared for the depth of the complex issues/conflicts but it was so well done! #abbyjimenez #thefriendzone #fivestarreads

The Friend Zone was a charming book written about complex characters, and while I loved them and the writing, the actual plot wasn’t exactly my usual preference for a romance novel.

Don’t get me wrong, I really liked this book. I did. But I didn’t realize how much of it would be because of a lack of communication. They keep having the same argument over and over, and never ask the questions they think or share the information that’s informing their choices. It got a little annoying, and while it payed off in the end I don’t think I would reread this book.

The banter hit so hard, the steam was steaming, and the tears were streaming. I love Abby Jimenez’s writing style. I also love all the characters in this book, and seeing them grow and heal together was lovely.

I’d definitely recommend this book, but if you’re sensitive to stories surrounding infertility or emotional cheating you may want to skip it. 4 stars.

I was definitely expecting a cute cheesy romcom but this book was a lot more than that. It had me sobbing over so many different things, it was a really beautiful story. I loved all of the characters, this story made ma laugh, and cry and feel all the feels.
