I'm always bummed when I can't recommend a book to friends because I like to share what I read and have discussions about the book. I also hate feeling like I wasted a week of my life reading a book that I didn't learn anything from. The heroines name is Gina which was the only cool thing about it. *wink*

I didn't have any idea this book would be so sexy -- I've read Enright before and the passion that carries this entire plot along just blew me away. It wasn't until I got to the end that I saw how sad it was, too. Choices made in lust and love can be life-altering in ways that can be devastating.

Despite the rave reviews for this book I did not like the narrative tone and could not feel empathetic with the characters perhaps I will try her first book which I realize is what all the back cover rave reviews were for!
Beautifully written, very interior. An account of an affair.
Didn't like the cold tone of the narration and it reminded me of Sense of an Ending by Julian Barnes which irritated the hell out of me. So I gave up on it.
I keep waffling on the rating for this. I love, love Enright's writing, and the actual story is well-done... but I really didn't like a single character. Gina, the main, was well written and should have been sympathetic, but I hated her. But the writing is just so good - so different, that overall I really did like this.
Bedre enn forventet. Trodde jeg hadde forelest meg på utroskapsbøker for lengst, men denne var veldig forfriskende. Passer perfekt i lydformat, det er noe med irsk litteratur (eh, irsk aksent), som fungerer helt sykt godt til sov-nå-for-faen turer i regnet.
