if you didn't know that these essays, interviews, and speeches were from 2013-2015 you’d think they were published today. when she mentioned the boycott of starbucks in 2015 my reaction was 😮bc i wasn’t aware of the bds movement until last year. it was just crazy to learn how much of this applies to what’s happening now &  that just goes to show the relevancy of the topics discussed. i really loved the interview portions and think everyone should read this.

I would love an updated version or for Davis to revisit some of these conversations in light of the recent movement

I can tell why AD is hailed as a black feminist queen. In this collection of speeches she laid out elegant and concise arguments against capitalism, colonialism, homophobia, transphobia, and racism. She interconnected generational struggles, and geopolitical issues.

Angela Y. Davis is an absolute treasure. I had to re-read this now because of the increased attention and seeming awakening to what's happening to the people of Palestine. Our struggles are all connected as she so eloquently outlines in this book. #FreePalestine.

Very important subject matter and very enlightening connections revealed, but could have been organized better to avoid repetition and subject jumping. The interview portions were interesting and easy to digest, but it began to slow down for me during the speech portion as they became repetitive due to their similar subject matter. Nevertheless, I would certainly recommend to anyone interested in these topics!
