The story and characters were entertaining and lovable, but the cringe was too much for me. I ended up skimming most of the romantic scenes because I found them too absurd and cringeworthy. I wanted to read the next book because I like the characters but I actually can’t put myself though it.

CW: abandonment, grief, addiction, death of parent, gun violence

This was really popular with many people, and I initially ignored it based on the cover. The cover did not say 'romance' to me at all. I saw enough people I trust say good things about it to give it a go.

I enjoyed Knox and Naomi's meet-rude. I like how she gave as good as she got. I wasn't a fan of Knox running hot and cold for most of the book. I did like how Naomi worked on conquering the problems in front of her regardless of how worried she was about all the problems. I did enjoy watching them figure each other out. I also liked watching them gain Waylay's trust. I was not keen on how long it took Knox to come to terms with his baggage. He had so many people step in to help him see his way around his block. Overall, I liked the book.

It’s a long audiobook that could have been cut significantly by removing the super descriptive sex scenes. The plot point with the sister barely features into the book aside from the occasional mention until the 3rd act.

I was debating between three and four stars but ultimately the tropes, the romance, the cuteness just won me over. Yes, there are times the writing isn’t great, the dialogue is cringey, and the characters are so immature it hurts to read. BUT there was strong themes about learning to love with all your baggage on the table. And the beautiful tropes! GrumpyxSunshine. Small Town. Sudden guardianship. But especially the grumpy x sunshine.
