After reading and really enjoying The Chalk Man, I knew I was going to have to pick this book up at some point.

I had bought it so that I could read it around October time and honestly, this book was perfect for that time of the year.
From the very start we are drawn in with a gripping prologue and I found myself hooked until the very last word.

This was a fast, easy, gripping read with all the creepy vibes perfect for the spooky season, every chapter left me wanting more and I was unable to put it down and if I really had to, I couldn't stop thinking about it.

In this book we follow Joe Thorne who's sister had gone missing and then returned after 48 hours but was never the same again. Joe is now a teacher and ends up getting a job as a replacement for a teacher who was found dead either by murder or suicide. To make things even more creepy, Joe is living in that dead teachers house and starts to hear and see weird things.

We also get to see flashbacks from the past, before, during and after Annie went missing which I feel were really important to the story. It helps to give the reader some background about this tragic accident and may help to explain why things are the way they are now.

Joe was a flawed character and I was unsure at the start wether I should be trusting him, but I couldn't help but root for him and hope that he found out what he needed to in order to put the past in the past and focus on his future.

Essentially a regurgitation of Pet Sematary, but I mean I had a good time!

A great read. Loved the different storylines throughout. Very dark and intriguing, could not put it down! Devoured it in 2 days!
