OMFG! This is me in a book. Love it!

The heroine in this book is basically me, as a teenager. Rabid knitter and reader? Check. Music lover and player? Check check. Dramatic crush magnet? Checkity-check-check. And she's even an archer, which I am not, since the last time I tried archery a boy made fun of me during gym class and I ended up shooting the arrow through a door, two targets away from me, through my tears. But the drama I felt at 15 was pretty soundly reflected in this. It may not be super original, and in fact it not only revels in YA tropes but literally writes in extra scenes of them from imaginary YA novels... but that just made me adore it more. Four fluffy hilarious back-to-high-school stars. Very clean, and a book I would definitely recommend to my students who are just as bookish as me.

A very cute & quick contemporary. It was exactly what I needed. Phoebe was so adorable & relatable. I saw a lot of myself in Phoebe and that made her story that much more memorable for me.

Loved the story line. I mean heck who of us doesn't have a book boyfriend or 4? I know I do! Phoebe and Em are great friends and i love that Em doesn't give up on finding her a RL boyfriend! And even though Phoebe is really too stuck in her books and knitting, I find her relate-able. The back and forth between Phoebe and Dev reminded me of exactly like all the great YA books I have read, and I love that we can all fall for the"Book boyfriend" in this book!.

But yeah did not enjoy this book. Felt that the writing was too juvenile. The characters were flat. Romance was odd and a protagonist who had no personality whatsoever.

I want to say how refreshing it is to have the main character of a book who loves to read. Her passion for reading is infectious, and at least in my case, extremely relatable. Boy boyfriends really are the best boyfriends, if only they existed in real life... well Phoebe certainly tests that theory throughout the book. This was an enjoyable read, which transported me right back to high school. The characters, while mild exaggerations and stereotypes of different social cliques, ring true. For example, I was the theatre kid, and their mini dramas and competition over roles was truly realistic. I found Phoebe's struggles in her love life, or lack there of, to be an honest depiction of what goes on inside a shy girl's head. The over analyzing and comparing is something I know all of my friends have done. I would love to elaborate more, but do not want to leave any major spoilers. I very much look forward to reading the next book in this series to see where Phoebe's adventures in live, love, and literature will take her.
I only had two complaints while readings. The first, holy typos batman! I know it was an ebook, and generally typos happen, but someone really need to reedit and proofread for final publication. Secondly, while I found the excerpts from other books Phoebe has been reading to be effective in mirroring her present situations, they were overdone. Mainly, I would have enjoyed more summary and background of the books, and smaller snippets for the "books." I think this would be more effective in setting the scene. I also wondered why the excerpts were at the end of the chapter, when at times it would've made more sense in the moment Phoebe was living the parallel scenes.

I wanted to love this book SO much as I really related to the description. But I just found that the book dragged on FOREVER. I didn't even quite finish it because I felt like it was never going to end.

This book was cute. Utterly predictable, but the journey was cute. I sometimes saw myself in Phoebe, who wanted to spend her time reading and doing what she loves, but life happens. I like that Phoebe found Dev and that he doesn't mind her hobbies and he actually tries to get her to open up to him by understanding her hobbies and asking her questions.
While I liked Phoebe and Dev, I didn't like many of the other characters. They either fell flat for me, or they were just too unlikable, or totally cliche.
There wasn't much setting for me to enjoy reading, but the author wrote enough for you to imagine how it might look.
The author had a nice and flowing style. Aside from some grammatical errors (which, this is an unedited galley, so there were many) the rhythm worked with the genre. I also appreciated that the author understood that as a bookworm, Phoebe would often sneak in some big words in general conversation.
If you like cute romance, this book is perfect for you.

This is a fun quick read. Sixteen year old Phoebe loves reading, knitting, and archery, which she took up because her favorite fictional character does archery. She takes notes from her favorite books on romance and relationships and tries to put them to use when she finds out that Dev, a friend of hers in band, likes her. Her friends try to help her out and there are mishaps, friendship and romance in this fun book.
