Another fabulous zombie book by Maberry. He did spend quite a bit of time recapping Rot & Ruin, and it almost seemed as if he wanted this to be able to stand alone. Lots of deep background about other characters. He poses some good existential questions like - how much do you want to risk to try to be free? Is it bad to want to just feel safe, and not try for something other than that?

I can't wait to read #3. And I love the zombie cards on the inside covers.

As usual, Jonathan Maberry has a stunner.

My problem is I get way too attached to characters. I know that in order for the story to move forward well, characters need to change and even go away.

But I hate it. Kills me every time. We won't even talk about who J.K. Rowling killed and made me cry over. But back to Dust & Decay.

It again is so much more than a zombie book, and more than a second book in a series (my theory is that second books aren't necessarily going to be good, just a way to get you the information you need and a traveling between one and three). Bravo, Mr. Maberry, bravo.

A lot has happened and to think this is just the 2nd book. I'm a big fan of the Imura Brothers and reading this totally satisfied your need for the development of their relationship. Wonder what happens to the next book.

MILD Spoiler:
My heart is broken. How do you go on reading these books now?!

I don't have a review in me for this one. It was good, as good as the first. Except no assholes, at least not ones who weren't supposed to be assholes.

Very good.

WHYYYYYY,
Spoiler Tom,
why did you have to
Spoiler die? You were my favorite! No, no, no! I'm going to throw a tantrum in a corner. Benny's a crap protagonist, YOU should have been the lead, Tom! You're so awesome... with your sword... and awesomeness... //sobs.

Apart from that, it was another great zombie book. A few unrealistic scenes
Spoiler (Three THOUSAND zombies on fire?? And none of you died?)
, but overall a great addition to the series and I can't wait to devour the next one.

Absolutely loved this book! Would give it 5 stars but..... the ending made me mad. REALLY mad. The wrong person died, and I really can't get into Benny & Nix as a couple. They just seem..... wrong together, somehow.

I love this series! It has a great characters and a perfect combination of heart and zombie-slaying action. I like that it's more complicated than men fighting zombies--in these books, the zombies are often far from the most dangerous things facing the main characters. There's a surprise at the end that sets up the next book in the series well.

Well that was exhausting ! Intense action, horror filled pages, with a spark of love. This book had much more zombie action than book one. I thoroughly enjoyed it, well except towards the end when my heart cracked and I cried my heart out
