Maria Ressa is truly an inspiration. This was a wonderfully informative book that is increasingly relevant in our global political climate.
The impacts of social media and the internet are immense and even dangerous. This book will certainly remain in my thoughts for quite some time.

I’ll come back to it! My other Filipino History book was available on Libby after being on hold.

I wanted to like this one, but some details tripped me up early on, and nothing pulled me back in. The oversimplification of psychology (saying dopamine is the neurotransmitter for addiction, referring to emotions, smoking, and fatness all as socially spread via networks) made me wonder what else was being over simplified. I feel like I got a lot of the information about social media in more depth from Careless People which I read recently. Overall it just didn't feel clear what the aim of the book was - is it a memoir? A story about how to recognize fascism? A guide to deciding your values and sticking to them? All of those are good but because they're all mixed together I feel like there wasn't much depth and I wasn't getting much out of it.
